Nine people were brought to safety after their fishing boat lost power when its propeller got caught in lobster lines off the Inishowen coastline.

The Lough Swilly lifeboat rushed to the aid of the small fishing boat which was fishing just off Dunaff Head around 2.18pm this afternoon.

The lifeboat crew fixed a stern tow to the boat before towing it to Portsalon.

The lifeboat then returned to base at Buncrana Pier to refuel and get ready for service.

A lifeboat spokesperson reminded people that if they see someone in difficulty in the water to dial 112 or 999 and ask for the coast guard.
