Gardai have appealed to people to lock their cars after a spate of thefts.
Cars in Newtowncunningham and Carrigans were targeted in the opportunist thefts on May 20th last after 10pm.
A number of items including small amounts of cash, a driver’s license and a memory stick were taken following robberies at Cornfield Lane in Newtown.
A short time later at Foyle View in Carrigans a pair of sunglasses were taken from a car.
All cars were unlocked at the time of the robberies and no damage was caused.
Garda Sergeant Niall Maguire appealed to people to lock their cars.
“It’s only the push of a button mostly these days so I would appeal to people to lock their cars at all times,” he said.
