New guidelines and time limits for dining expected for restaurants, pubs

NEW regulations for dining are expected to be published later today.

It is expected that the new guidelines will see six adults and up to nine children permitted at restaurant and pub tables.

With Covid-19 restrictions easing over the coming weeks, beginning with the resumption of outdoor dining and indoor service at hotels, hospitality chiefs will set out new guidelines.

No time limits will be imposed for those dining outdoors.

There will be a 105-minute time limit for people dining inside where there is only one metre separating tables.

If tables are two metres apart, no time limit will apply.

Contract tracing facilities will be required and premises will need to have dedicated entry and exit points.

Outdoor dining is permitted from June 7 with indoor service for hotel residents will begin on June 2.

It is expected that indoor dining will resume in July.
