A walker attempting to visit the ‘secret waterfall’ at Largy in South Donegal yesterday needed assistance after getting caught out by the tide.
Killybegs Coast Guard were tasked to the area yesterday.
The person was making their way over rocks when it seemed as though the water had come in too far for them to proceed.
Rescue services were alerted, but after some time, the person was able to safely make their way back to the car park.
This is the second call-out at the secluded site this month. Two weeks previously, a woman was hospitalised with a leg injury after falling on the rocks.
The waterfall has become a very popular destination in recent years, but the location can only be accessed on foot, and requires climbing over high, often slippery, coastal rocks. Visitors must wear proper footwear and be aware of tide times if they wish to access it and return safely.
“A stunningly beautiful place it may be but it has to be respected as a place that can be dangerous,” said Noel Cunningham, a native of Kilcar.
