OPW slammed for not meeting with council over Letterkenny Flood Relief Scheme

Letterkenny Councillor Gerry Mc Monagle has said he is very disappointed with the refusal of the OPW to meet with Letterkenny/Mildford Councillors to discuss and update them on where the Plans for Letterkenny Flood Relief Scheme is at.

Cllr Mc Monagle brought forward a motion at the May meeting to invite the OPW to the June meeting of the council to give an update to the council on the current status of the Letterkenny Flood Relief Scheme.

Clr McMonagle said “The response we received this week from the OPW that they would not be facilitating a meeting was very disappointing. Especially at a time that we are involved in Drawing up The Letterkenny Town Plan.

“A meeting with the OPW would have been of immense benefit putting this Plan together and with future development of the Town Centre and those areas classed as Flood Plains across the Town.

“I will be requesting that the Council contact them once again for a meeting.

“I would hope that this time the OPW would reconsider their position in refusing to meet with us and that a meeting can be arranged in the near future.”
