AARON Doherty hit the dramatic winner as Naomh Columa nicked a win against Sean MacCumhaills at a sunny-but-cool Pairc na nGael.

Naomh Columba 0-15 Sean MacCumhaills 1-11

Incredibly, Doherty’s winning free was the first time Naomh Columba had the lead apart from the opening score.

Christopher Byrne got the scoring up an running with an advanced mark in the third minute.

Darren O’Leary got a goal despite the best efforts from the defence as he put the ball into the roof of the net.

Lanty Molloy replied with a couple of points but half back Chad McSorley got three points as the visitors led 1-6 to 0-6 at the break.

Martin O’Reilly got the first score of the second half before a Doherty free got the home side up and running for second half.

Doherty and O’Leary were trading points as if they were going out of fashion.

In the 57th minute Gary Wilson put three points between the sides and looked to be enough for victory.

A Ronan Gillespie point left a goal in it but in a dramatic twist, three Doherty points – two from frees – saw Naomh Columba come away with the win.
