RAPHOE man Daniel Magee will be at the Olympic Games this year.

Magee has been confirmed as the Team Leader of the Irish badminton team that will travel to Tokyo next week

Nhat Nguyen will compete in the men’s singles at the Olympics while Irish coach Davis Efraim will also travel.

This will be a first Olympic Games for Nguyen, who defeated Iskander Zulkarnain in an Olympic preparation match yesterday evening.

Magee has described himself as ‘absolutely delighted’ to be selected.

His siblings, Chloe and Sam, didn’t manage to qualify with their last 15 months inhibited by the Covid-19 pandemic.
