Today will see some Covid-19 restrictions easing in Ireland to allow larger wedding parties and outdoor events.
The hospitality industry continues to seek clarity on the resumption of indoor dining for pubs and restaurants.
Indoor drinking and dining had been due to resume from today, but the government delayed the reopening over concerns about the spread of the Delta variant. Talks are talking place to develop a plan by 19th July. The National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET) has recommended that only vaccinated people should be allowed to dine indoors or enjoy any indoor activity.
From today, 5th July, the following restrictions are eased:
- numbers permitted at outdoor events increase to a maximum of 200 attendees for the majority of stadia, and to 500 for stadia/venues with capacity greater than 5,000, with appropriate protective measures
- there should be no limit on the numbers of people taking part in household visits once all are fully vaccinated, or have a confirmed case of COVID-19 infection in the previous nine months
- unvaccinated households may have visitors from one other unvaccinated household
- 50 guests permitted to attend wedding receptions with protective measures
- the number of mourners permitted at funerals continues to be limited to 50, regardless of size of venue. Attendance at wakes in private homes and at funeral homes is for family only.
- people should continue to work from home unless necessary to attend in person
