A COMPULSORY Purchase Order (CPO) has been confirmed for Buncrana’s new Three School Campus.

Deputy Joe McHugh has confirmed that official notice has been received today from An Bord Pleanála.

The CPO, without modifications, will see the purchase of ten acres of land in Buncrana near the Cockhill Road and Causeway Road.

The search for a site for the three-school campus, which will host more than 800 students from Crana College, Gaelscoil Bhun Cranncha and Coláiste Chineál Eoghain, has been ongoing since 2006.

The CPO was initiated by Donegal County Council on 2 December 2020 for the site at Causeway Road. However,

Written objections were submitted to An Bord Pleanála by landowners Roy Baldrick of Coolboy, Letterkenny, the legal personal representative of the late David Baldrick, and David Walker of Carrowmullan, Fahan, in January.

The news was also welcomed by the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Charlie McConalogue.

Minister McConalogue commented “This is fantastic news for the school staff, students and parents and for the wider Buncrana community. I look forward to this project moving ahead.”
