Motorists asked not to block emergency access at Downings Pier

More concerns have been raised about poor parking on piers, potentially delaying the launch of a lifeboat.

Mulroy Coastguard are asking motorists to ‘think before you park’ after a number of vehicles were abandoned on the slipway at Downings Pier.

They can clearly be seen parked inside the yellow box there.

“Think before you park,” Mulroy Coastguard posted on their Facebook page yesterday.

“Ask yourself, have you parked responsibly? Are you potentially blocking access for emergency vehicles? Yellow boxes are there for a reason, please be mindful.”

The call comes less than a month after we reported that the launch of a west Donegal lifeboat was delayed for ten minutes due to bad parking. That incident occurred at Bunbeg Pier.
