An east Donegal man is due to appear in court today in relation to a fatal hit-and-run collision in Lifford yesterday morning.

The 50-year-old was detained overnight under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act at Letterkenny Garda Station.

It follows the death of local woman Laura Connolly, aged 34.

Laura was found on the N15 road near Townsparks, between Lifford roundabout and the National School, at 2.45am.

She died later at Letterkenny University Hospital.

Gardaí are renewing their appeal for witnesses to come forward and for those with video footage (including dash cam) from the scene and along this route to make it available to investigators.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Letterkenny Garda Station 074 9167116 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
