A new memorial garden has been proposed to commemorate drivers past and present from the Donegal International Rally.
It is hoped that the space could be created to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the event next year and to commemorate members of the Donegal Motor Club.
The idea was put forward by Cllr Kevin Bradley at today’s meeting of the Letterkenny-Milford MD.
Cllr Bradley told the council that the rally is one of the biggest tourist attractions in Donegal and that a garden near Letterkenny’s Polestar Roundabout would be a suitable place for visitors.
The motion was passed. The council will now carry out an assessment of possible suitable and appropriate locations and consider feasible funding opportunities.
