Works have commenced to widen and replace the surface of Carrigart Bridge.
The deck had been assessed as structurally deficient in recent years.
The bridge will be widened to facilitate temporary traffic management and to provide improved road width and pedestrian facilities on the completion of the works.
The project will include the construction of 164 metres of footpath completing the link between Carrigart Main Street and the Church and School.
The Letterkenny-Milford Roads Department programme is to carry out the off road works in July e.g. the widening of the bridge using box culverts and the construction temporary road.
The works on the deck replacement, construction of Road Realignment and Construction of footpath will be completed between September and October.
