A further 783 cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed in the Republic, NPHET reports this afternoon.

As of 8am today, there are 73 Covid-19 patients hospitalised, of which 20 are in ICU. This is an increase on yesterday’s hospital figure of 62 patients and 17 in ICU.

Today’s Covid-19 update is the highest daily increase in cases since February 20th 2021.

Northern Ireland recorded its highest number of new cases since January. There were 636 new cases reported in the region today and one Covid-19 related death.

Donegal’s Covid-19 incidence rate remains two times higher than any other county in Ireland.

The 14-day incidence rate in Donegal is 444 per 100,000, while the second highest is in Louth at 215 per 100,000. A total of 378 cases of Covid-19 were confirmed in Donegal in the week up to 12th July. The five day moving average is 52.
