Hundreds expected in Lifford tomorrow for tragic Laura’s final journey

Hundreds are expected to line the streets of Lifford tomorrow morning for the funeral of tragic bride-to-be Laura Connolly.

Laura (34) was killed in the Townspark area of the town after she was knocked down while returning from a night out with friends in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The hugely popular Lifford woman is survived by her partner Joe McCullagh and the couple’s young son, Jamie.

The couple were due to get married next year.

The priest who was due to wed them, Fr Colm O’Doherty, will instead officiate at her funeral mass tomorrow in St Patrick’s Church, Murlog, Lifford.

Posting on Facebook, her uncle, Andy Connolly, paid tribute to all the community for their support. 

“As we wake Laura for the final day, we would like everyone to know how overwhelmed her family has been at the never ending trickle of people showing their respects,” he said.

Mr Connolly added that people are more than welcome to walk ‘side by side’ with them when they bring Laura on her final journey from her home to St Patrick’s Church.  

Cherished daughter of Rosemary and Jimmy, much loved partner of Joe, dearly loved mother of Jamie, loving sister of James, Jamie and the late baby Theresa and beloved granddaughter of Theresa and the late Andy Connolly and the late Rose and Foncie Brennan.

Funeral leaving her home at 10am for Requiem Mass in St Patrick’s Church, Murlog, at 11am with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

In accordance with current Covid-19 restrictions, the house and funeral will be private to family only please.
