Mary’s Meals look for support every step of the ‘Walk to Knock’

It’s that time of year again… Mary’s Meals Letterkenny has launched Step by Step to Feed the Next Child 2021!

The Step by Step to Feed the Next Child walk will be taking place from August 7th till the 15th.

Each year, people from all over Ireland join the Step by Step walk, raising vital funds to help feed hungry children in some of the world’s poorest communities. With Covid-19 restrictions still ongoing, this year’s walks will proceed on a reduced scale.

Traditionally, walkers set off from Malin, Derry and five other starting points across the country and over nine days – between 7 and 15 August – cover more than 200km as they make their way toward the Marian shrine at Knock in County Mayo (Covid restrictions permitting).

Today’s launch of Mary’s Meals Step by Step Walk to Knock

Covid-19 restrictions continue to present logistical challenges for this event, but Mary’s Meals are working hard to allow walkers to take part safely.

To help volunteers adhere to current rules and be part of the event in a way that you feel comfortable, they’re introducing the option of taking on a local walk which you can complete nearer to your home. It’s up to you whether you do these local walks in groups or pairs, and you can choose any distance that suits those taking part.

In adherence with Covid-19 restrictions, it’s unlikely that they will be able to hold bucket collections along any of this year’s routes. So, they kindly ask for you to donate to Step by Step online here.
