A FISTED effort from John Fitzgerald to the Bundoran net in injury time meant that Cloughaneely continued their excellent league form and leaves the Seasiders still seeking their first win of the season.

Bundoran 1-13 Cloughaneely 2-11

By Noel Carr

In a game that ebbed and flowed  throughout  the homeside gained the early momentum when Peter McGonigle finished an excellent team move to the net on 14 mins to leave Bundoran 1-2 to 0-2 ahead.

Cloughaneely duly replied and hit 1-2 in purple patch with Ciaran McFadden raising the green flag ably assisted by the accuracy of young Blake McGarvey.

Again Bundoran finished strongly with Cian McEniff and Alan Russell to the fore to lead at halftime, 1-5 to 1-4.

The visitors came flying out of the traps  in the second half and hit 3 points in succession to lead 1-7 to 1-5 after only four minutes.

Again the home side responded to lead 1-9 to 1-8 with an Alan Russell point the highlight.

Further points from Johnny Boyle and Russell put three between the sides, but again the men in blue and white showed their character and were soon level with Fitzgerald and McGarvey finding the range to leave the sides level with three minutes left on the clock.

Bundoran’s cause was then made harder when towering midfielder Ciaran McCaughey picked up a second yellow followed by a red and was sent to the line by referee Connie Doherty.

As the game entered injury time a Gary Clancy free looked like it might have given Bundoran the win but Fitzgerald had other ideas as a pointed effort fell short and he pounced to give his team a 2two-oint lead.

Another Clancy free made it a one-point game but time was up and saw the black and amber men losing successive league matches by a single point margin having lost to Gaoth Dobhair last week in Magheragallon.
