Vaccine supplies were not impacted by yesterday’s fire at Letterkenny Institute of Technology, it has been confirmed.

A fire broke out on campus after 6pm on Saturday evening, sending thick black smoke into the sky. The incident was dealt with quickly and described as not serious.

The fire was confined to a separate building to the Covid-19 vaccination centre at An Danlann on the LYIT campus.

The Saolta group has confirmed that the incident had no impact on the rollout of the vaccination programme.

“Vaccinations are continuing as normal today at the centre with between 800 and 1,000 vaccinations due to be administered. Appointments will continue as scheduled today and throughout the week,” a spokesperson said.
