Call for bins on Portsalon’s famous beach

A visitor has managed to collect six bags of rubbish on a short stretch of the world famous Portsalon beach.

Matthew McKittrick did the collection this morning after what was a very busy weekend in north Donegal.

“I just thought I’d share the mess left on Portsalon beach over the weekend. I collected six bin bags over a 200m stretch, due to the lack of bins,” he said.

“While Donegal County Council should be in part to blame for having no rubbish or dog litter bins, please take some responsibility for your own litter and take it home with you.”

Items collected on the beach included glass and plastic bottles, dog poop bags, food wrappers, broken body boards, disposable barbecues and even used female sanitary products.
