A Letterkenny man has admitted having child pornography at Letterkenny Institute of Technology.

Oliver Ferris (24) of Foxhills, Carnamuggagh, pleaded guilty when he appeared at Letterkenny Circuit Court.

Ferris admitted having nine video files of ‘children engaging in sexually explicit acts’ on the hard-drive of his computer at the college on March 14th, 2018.

He was charged under the Child Trafficking and Pornography Act, 1998.

His barrister Shane Costelloe said that his client had never been in trouble before and that he appreciated the seriousness of the offence.

He requested a probation and welfare report and also a psychological report for his client.

Judge John Aylmer agreed and adjourned the case for sentencing to January next year.
