Fines to be issued after dumping at Arranmore bottle bank

Householders and visitors are being asked not to dump rubbish at Arranmore Island’s bottle bank.

The call came from the local Comharchumann Oileán Árainn Mhór (Arranmore Co-op) where the facility is situated.

“The bottle bank facility and the grounds at an Comharchumann Oileán Árainn Mhór are monitored by CCTV 24/7,” a spokesperson for the Co-op said.

“It is an offence to dump rubbish – it would be appreciated if the individuals who have disposed of their household waste at an Comharchumann yard could return and collect their rubbish.”

It was also pointed out that bin labels/bags/refuse bins can be purchased from Siopa Phil Bháin and from an Comharchumann.

“Please don’t abuse this service, which is provided free of charge, and don’t leave your rubbish for others to clean up and pay for it’s disposal. The relevant authorities will be given access to CCTV footage and fines will issue.”
