Dungloe woman Alannagh Mc Glynn has been crowned this year’s Mary from Dungloe.
The 22-year-old, who lives just outside the town, has been attending the festival all her life.
And her dream of taking the title came true at last night’s virtual ceremony.
The event was aired to thousands of people around the world through Facebook, with six finalists competing in a socially-distanced show produced by Re-Act Productions.
Alannagh, representing Pleanáil Teanga Na Rosann, was the first Mary to be interviewed by the host, former Miss Universe Ireland Grainne Gallanagh.
Alannagh took the chance to share her many accomplishments, including her degree in Law and French from DCU, which she gained while juggling work as a sales representative for an Irish cream liquor company in Birmingham.
Alannagh switched skills then, and traded her business suit for waders to become an oyster farmer. She is now about to begin a Masters in Teaching in September.
A singer in a local band, Fior Uisce, she wowed the judges with an atmospheric church performance.
The winner was crowned by Donegal Person of the Year Noel Cunningham.
