Donegal motorists are being urged to drive with care over what is expected to be a stormy day.
The message comes from local Gardai as Met Eireann has issued a thunderstorm warning for all counties.
“With heavy showers forecast, road conditions are set to deteriorate,” a spokesperson for the Donegal Garda Division said.
“It takes longer to stop a vehicle on a wet surface so please do drive with extra care. Allow extra time for travel and remain at a safe distance from the vehicle in front. Reduce your speed, and obey the speed limits.”
Gardai are also asking motorists to make sure their wipers are in good working order and to check tyres before setting off on your journey.
The Met Eireann warning came into effect from 6am and will remain in place until 7pm this evening.
