A local tour boat and the Lough Swilly RNLI have been praised for bringing six people to safety after a boat breakdown yesterday.
Six people were rescued after their small boat suffered power failure on Wednesday evening at 5.31pm.
The crew from The Swilly Explorer sightseeing boat took the broken down boat under tow as they awaited the RNLI.
The Lough Swilly RNLI crew arrived on the scene soon afterwards and towed the vessel to the safety of Rathmullan pier.
The lifeboat was returned to Buncrana to refuel and make ready for service.
The RNLI have thanked the Rathmullan Charters for their swift action.
“Remember if you’re in difficulty or see someone in or on the water in trouble please dial 999 or 112 and ask for the Coast Guard,” said an RNLI spokesperson.
