Health officials have today confirmed 1,828 new cases of Covid-19 in the Republic.
There are 198 people hospitalised with the virus, including 33 in ICU.
On Friday evening, Letterkenny University Hospital recorded seven patients hospitalised with Covid-19, with one patient with the virus in ICU.
Daily county-by-county figures are no longer released by NPHET, but the latest data shows that Donegal has Ireland’s highest incidence of infection. There were 1222 new cases in Donegal in the two weeks from 22nd July to 4th August.
The 14-day incidence rate in Donegal stood at 767.6 per 100,000 on 4th August. The national average was 376.8 per 100,000.
Northern Ireland’s Health Department reported 1,349 positive cases and sadly, six deaths have been reported in the past 24 hours.
