Incredible €100,000 raised overnight for Donegal woman’s cancer treatment

A Donegal woman’s medical fundraiser has received overwhelming support this weekend.

More than $116,237 (just under €100,000) has been raised to help Vivienne Lynch McDaid from Buncrana access cancer treatment in the US.

Vivienne needs to undergo chemotherapy in Boston, but treatment cannot begin until the hospital has received a full deposit of $150,000.00.

Friend Victoria Naughton shared the family’s situation online yesterday and soon the donations began flooding in. In just one day, they are over two-thirds of the way to their fundraising goal.

Vivienne was first diagnosed with cancer in Ireland, and with the help of some friends, she got promising news after travelling to Boston last week for a consultation at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH).

Her doctor, Victoria said, said the words that every person diagnosed with cancer wants to hear… “there is hope”.

Vivienne now faces 8 cycles of chemotherapy, which she is eager to begin when sufficient funds are secured.

With almost 1,000 donations already, it is hoped that the payment can be made as soon as possible to give Vivienne the best chance.
