‘Retention’ planning granted for quarrying near Dunfanaghy

Planning permission has been granted for the ‘retention’ and continuation of quarrying near Dunfanaghy.

Donegal County Council gave the green light to McFadden and McGinley Ltd for the development in the townland of Carrownamaddy.

A submission from environmental group An Taisce noted that, despite ‘invalidated or incomplete’ applications submitted for the same site between 2016-2020, operations have continued there.

The group added that the location is in an ecological and landscape sensitive area, 3km northwest of Muckish Mountain.

An Taisce has four weeks to appeal the decision to An Bord Pleanala.
