Naomh Conaill hit by McGettigan injury blow ahead of county final

NAOMH Conaill will be without Eoghan McGettigan for Saturday’s 2020 Donegal SFC final against Kilcar.

The Dr Maguire holders have been hit with a blow as McGettigan has suffered a serious knee injury.

McGettigan, a member of the Donegal senior squad, picked up the injury at training last week.

The injury will keep McGettigan out of this week’s final and also the 2021 Championship, which begins next month.

Naomh Conaill Martin Regan said that McGettigan had been ‘flying’ and said the injury was particularly unfortunate given the forward’s recent injury troubles.

“He worked really hard to get back,” Regan said.

McGettigan netted a goal in Donegal’s Allianz League semi-final defeat by Dublin in June.

This game has remained on the back burner since Covid-19 resulted in its postponement last year.

Saturday evening’s final will be played at Sean MacCumhaill Park (throw-in 8pm) and just 500 tickets have been allocated for supporters, due to public health measures.
