Donegal businessman appears on rape charges

A Donegal businessman has appeared in court charged with rape and sexual assault.

The man appeared at Letterkenny District Court during a brief appearance yesterday.

He faces three charges including two of rape and one of sexual assault.

His solicitor Donough Cleary requested a publication order which means the accused or his alleged victim cannot be named.

Judge Sandra Murphy agreed to the application.

The alleged incidents are alleged to have occurred between unknowns dates on July 1st, 2017 and July 21st, 2017 and also between July 21st, 2018 and July 22nd, 2018.

No details of the alleged incidents were given in court.

The man did not speak during the brief court appearance.

The case was adjourned until October 18th.
