Buncrana Golf Club weekly notes

It was another busy week for Buncrana Golf Club.

The competition at the weekend was the annual Buncrana Amateur Boxing Club Fundraiser and there was a good turnout for this event.

With the mild weather conditions over the weekend it was always likely going to take a good score to take the title and that good score was from none other than our Past Captain and President, Jim Fletcher.

Jim (27) played his best golf in a while on Saturday morning to return the winning score of 45pts and considering that he started off with a Blank Hole at the 1st, it is all the more remarkable.

Jim managed to steady his nerves after his bad start and powered his way to 22pts over his next 8 holes.

Jim continued this form all through the back 9 and returned a further 23 pts for his winning total of 45pts.

Just 1 shot adrift in second place was the unlucky Sean McMenamin. Sean (20) also played his best golf in awhile and will be disappointed to miss out after a great round of 44pts.

The Gross was won by Christopher McCallion (1) with a superb -3 Par round of 63. Full Results of the Buncrana ABC Open Singles Stableford are as follows; 1st Jim Fletcher (27) 45pts.  2nd Sean McMenamin (20) 44pts.

Gross Christopher McCallion (1) 63. 3rd David McMenamin (26) 43pts. Best Day Seamus McLaughlin (18) Sunday 41pts. Back 9 Kieran McDaid (15) 22pts.

Upcoming Fixtures

Saturday 4th & Sunday 5th September – Pat Cassidy Memorial Open Singles Stableford Sponsored by Mrs Eithne Cassidy.

Saturday 11th & Sunday 12th September – Daniel Kearney Hon. Vice President Open Stableford.

These two upcoming competitions are possibly 2 of the clubs most popular annual events and this year that will be no different.

Booking is essential and book early to avoid disappointment.
