GARDAÍ have launched an investigation after the death of a man whose body was discovered in Letterkenny in unexplained circumstances.

The body of the deceased male, aged in his 60s, was discovered in a house at Sylvan Park, Letterkenny just after 2am.

The man was pronounced dead a short time later and the scene is being preserved for a technical examination.

The State Pathologist’s office has been informed and the local coroner has also been notified.

Gardaí attended the scene after a report from the Ambulance Service, it is learned.

A Garda spokesperson told Donegal Daily: “Gardaí are investigating all of the circumstances surrounding the death of a man whose body was discovered in a house in Letterkenny, Co Donegal on Sunday 5th September.

“The man’s death is currently being treated as unexplained and investigating Gardaí await the results of a post-mortem examination to determine the course of the investigation.”
