Testing Centres to pause walk-in testing in Donegal

COVID-19 Testing Centres are to pause walk-in testing across in Donegal and some other counties.

As of today, walk-in testing is not available at Letterkenny CTC based at St Conals.

As of tomorrow, Wednesday 8th September, walk-in testing will NOT be available at the Cleary Centre, Donegal Town.

Testing will continue at all centres but must be booked online at www.hse.ie

Dermot Monaghan, Head of Service Primary Care CHO 1 said “The decision was made nationally to pause walk-in testing and encourage people to use the self-referral system.

“This reduces people’s waiting times. Booking using the self-referral online registration system should allow for the centre to run more smoothly.

“The pausing of walk-in testing throughout CHO 1 may continue for the rest of the week and over the weekend if the numbers presenting for testing continue to be high.”

You can get a PCR test if:

· You can get a PCR test if you have not had a positive COVID-19 PCR test in the last 9 months. Only get another test if you have symptoms of COVID-19.

· Children under 16 must have an adult with them if they are getting a test. A parent or guardian must give consent for a child under 16 to have a test.

· If you have symptoms of COVID-19, self-isolate (stay in your room) and only go out to get a PCR test. If your symptoms get worse or you are worried about symptoms, phone your GP.

· You need to bring photo ID and provide a mobile phone number.
