Staff and students from Queens University Belfast will be conducting ‘Town Centre Health Checks’ in Moville, Carndonagh and Buncrana this weekend.
The community is being encouraged to engage with the students and support their research.
Inishowen Development Partnership say they are delighted to assist the Queens University Belfast team and Donegal County Council to help raise awareness about a research piece, which is being carried out by a group of Planning students, as part of The Heritage Council’s Town Centre Health Check Programme.
The students will be completing their research in three Inishowen towns: Moville, Carndonagh and Buncrana on Friday 10th and Saturday 11th of September under the guidance of Dr Neil Galway, School of Natural and Built Environment with Queen’s University Belfast. Their surveys will include land use, mapping, footfall counts, parking surveys, public realm analyses, questionnaires, and some individual interviews. A report will be completed afterwards.
IDP are encouraging residents of Inishowen to engage and help the students if they see them out and about or you can complete the survey from the comfort of your own home.
Shauna McClenaghan, Joint CEO IDP says “we are happy to support Dr. Neil Galway and his team on rolling out this research. IDP have a strong background of collaborating in policy research with Third Level Institutes. Research plays a huge role in our ongoing programme delivery and this project with QUB aligns with our strategic goals in working to achieve positive change in the lives of people and groups in Inishowen #PeoplePlaceProgress.
“Links to the surveys have been disseminated to our networks, including those who participated in our EnVision Research and shared widely across IDP social media channels”.
Dr. Neil Galway, Queens University says that “we have been delighted with the response received to date from our online survey forms with the support of our colleagues at IDP. However, to ensure we get the most accurately reflective data, we would ask if you haven’t already completed the survey, please do so. The form is very easy to use and will take a few minutes to complete. Our team will arrive in the study areas from Friday 10th at 11.00am and we would grateful if residents of the three towns would stop and give us a few moments of their time if they are approached by our students, adhering to social distancing guidelines”.
