Another 1,620 new cases of Covid-19 have been reported by the Department of Health today.
There are now 328 patients in hospital with Covid with 59 of these patients being treated in intensive care units.
Earlier today the Cental Statistics Office revealed that 173 people have now died of Covid in Donegal with 18,212 cases of the virus in the county up until September 3rd last.
Meanwhile, nine in ten adults in Ireland have now been fully vaccinated, with over seven million Covid-19 vaccines set to have been administered by the end of today.
Earlier today, HSE CEO Paul Reid said that progress was being made in a number of areas.
As well as the update on vaccinations, he said that hospitalisations were “trending downwards” with 329 people in hospital and 54 in ICU.
“Overall testing positivity [is] reducing but high volumes in schools still,” Mr Reid said.
