Large crowd expected at MICA rally in Lifford tomorrow

A large crowd is expected in Lifford tomorrow (Sat) for a MICA demonstration through the town.

Organisers are urging anyone affected by MICA to come out and show their support at the rally.

Those coming along are asked to assemble at the Diamond area outside the County House at 1:30pm.

At 2:00pm sharp the march will proceed from the Diamond turning right up Lifford Main Mtreet to the bottom of Croghan Heights in the open green area, where the stage will be set up.

At approximately 2:30pm the speeches will commence with mica campaigner Paddy Diver being the main speaker .

When the speeches are over, the crowd will reassemble to continue to march down the main road towards the roundabout turning left before Lifford bridge back towards the Diamond.

Free Car parking will be available at the Lifford GAA grounds, Lifford Dog Track, The old Bakery Castlefinn road Lifford, Behind Eclipse cinema Lifford – Strabane, ABC centre, Resource Center Croghan Heights.

Maps of car parking are posted on the Lifford Mica Demonstration Facebook page and various other social media platforms.

A spokesperson said “We urge everyone to come out and show their support for mica/pyrite affected homeowners, strength in numbers, people power will add extra pressure to hopefully see this over the line.”

(Posters and masks will be available but anyone who has any from previous protests is urged to bring them along on the day.)
