PLANNING permission has been sought for a multi million euro refurbishment of the Seaview Hotel in Gweedore.

Planning has been sought from Donegal County Council for the renovation of the Bunbeg premises.

Vesada Private Ltd planning to construct 44 new bedrooms and renovate the existing 36 hotel bedrooms and also the existing bar and restaurant.

The former nightclub area of the hotel is to be demolished while a new toilet block and gym will be installed.

The planning also provides for 94 car parking spaces and a coach set down area.

Donegal County Council say that a decision is due on November 3 next on the application which was submitted to the local authority late this week.

Last summer, Vesada Private Ltd unveiled plans for a €15m investment to redevelop both the Seaview Hotel and the nearby Óstán Ghaoth Dobhair.

At the time, company spokesperson Des Connolly said the project was almost two years in the making. Mr Connolly said the project would ‘show all of the magic that west Donegal has to offer’.
