Ireland’s Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan has issued a reminder to the public of the importance of isolating when Covid-19 symptoms appear.
Another 1,394 new cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed by Irish health officials today.
There are now 321 Covid-19 patients in hospitals. Of those, 58 people are receiving treatment in intensive care settings.
There are 15 Covid-19 patients at Letterkenny University Hospital, with two admissions over the last 24 hours. As of 8pm last night, there are no confirmed Covid-19 patients in ICU at the hospital.
Dr. Tony Holohan, Chief Medical Officer, Department of Health said: “The awareness of COVID-19 symptoms, and what to do if you experience them, is extremely important.
“The COVID-19 symptoms for adults and children include fever, cough, shortness of breath, loss of taste or smell, runny or blocked nose, nausea, vomiting or diarrhoea, aches, fatigue, sore throat, headache.
“Regardless of how mild symptoms may be, we ask that you isolate if you experience any of them and contact your GP. Do not go to school, the workplace or socialise if you or your child exhibits COVID-19 symptoms.”
The 14-day incidence rate in Donegal stood at 956.7 per 100,000 on 9th September. The national average was 438.4 per 100,000. A total of 1,523 cases of Covid-19 have been detected in Donegal in the two weeks up to Thursday.
