Donegal County Councillor Frank McBrearty has revealed he has received a legal letter on behalf of Cassidy Brothers over his stance on the MICA issue.
Councillor McBrearty said he was able to raise the matter at today’s meeting of Lifford/Stranorlar Municipal Authority because the letter was sent to his official council email address.
He said the letter was “to try and cover up the truth of what has happened to the many victims of MICA.”
He said contained in this letter are many allegations made against him personally and as a public representative.
Councillor McBrearty said he will defend his good name.
He said “These allegations and other allegations contained in this solicitor’s letter has caused great harm, upset, anxiety, flash backs and fear to our family, that we are now going to face a similar orchestrated campaign perpetrated on us by Cassidy’s similar to the Irish Garda corruption scandal, which resulted in the establishment of Morris Tribunal and multiple civil suites being settled in the high court by the Irish Government, with a full apology.”
Cllr McBrearty said he will defend his good name to the ends of the earth and all the allegations contained in the Cassidy’s solicitors’ letter and looks forward to his day in court as he has done nothing wrong.
“Our loyal legal team will defend my good name in court no matter how long it will take,” he added.
Cllr McBrearty added that he has no involvement with the 100% Redress no less campaign, Mica action group campaign, the government working group or any other groups.
He added his immediate family and wider family circle are victims of the Mica, Pyrite, and Pyrrhotite scandal and will be launching multiple cases against the Irish state in the coming months, with Frank McBrearty Snr being the first case to go before the High Court.
