If you have an idea for a new food product or business – LYIT has a unique opportunity for you.

The new Higher Diploma in Food Product Innovation & Enterprise commences this autumn to help entrepreneurs bring new food product ideas from concept stage right through to prototype development.

The programme is tailor made to be as accessible as possible to participants. It is delivered online and is co-funded by Local Enterprise Office Donegal, Donegal County Council. The cost for the programme is normally €3,000, but this year participants will only be required to pay €1,350.

With modules including Marketing Communications & Consumer Behaviour, Quality Assurance and Food Regulatory Affairs and Food Product – Design and Development, this course offers a complete guide to bring a product/service to market.

Michael Tunney, Head of Local Enterprise Donegal said: “This programme fits very well with the objectives of both the Local Enterprise Office and the Food Cost initiative as well as the ambitions of the county to promote and develop more added-value food businesses in the county. We hope that many of the participants will identify new and innovative food businesses ideas with real potential for growth and employment.”

The Level 8, Higher Diploma in Arts in Food Product Innovation and Enterprise will commence this autumn and finish in summer 2022. It will be delivered 100% online allowing participants to complete this programme from the comfort of their own home. Those with previous experience in the industry can go through the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process to gain access to the programme.
