LETTERKENNY’s Paddy McShane is through to the Irish Elite flyweight final.

McShane overcame Michael Stokes from Athy in tonight’s semi-final.

Stokes received a cut to his eye in the second round and the fight was stopped. The score cards were marked in McShane’s favour when a halt was called.

McShane was well in command after the first round, four of the judges at ringside siding with the Letterkenny ABC man on the first stanza.

McShane took a split decision win to move into the 51kgs final meeting with St John Bosco’s Paudraic Downey.

McShane is a four-time Irish champion, but tonight’s bout was his debut at Elite level.

McShane won the last of his Irish titles in April 2018, defeating Aaron Kirwan-Doyle from The Ballagh in the Junior 1 42kgs final.

McShane also has Boy 3, Junior Cadet and Senior Cadet crowns to his name.

On Saturday-week, McShane will meet Downey and bid to become Letterkenny ABC’s first Irish Elite kingpin since super-heavyweight Eamonn Coyle in 1982.
