The Milford local electoral area has recorded Ireland’s highest Covid-19 incidence rate this week.

170 new cases were diagnosed in the area in the past two weeks, up from 156 the previous fortnight.

The incidence rate in Milford is now 1234.5 per 100,000 – three times the national average.

New data from the HSE shows that Lifford-Stranorlar and Letterkenny also saw a rise in Covid-19 cases.

The incidence rate in the Lifford-Stranorlar region is currently the second highest in Ireland. The area had 284 new cases detected in the past two weeks and now has an incidence rate of 1097 per 100,000.

311 cases were diagnosed in Letterkenny in the two weeks up to Monday 20th September, compared to 242 in the previous period. The 14-day incidence rate in Letterkenny is now 1043.9 per 100,000. This is the fourth highest in the county.

Cases are down in the remaining areas of Donegal – Buncrana, Carndonagh, Glenties and Donegal.
