An additional bank holiday could be introduced in Ireland before the end of 2021, according to reports.

The government is said to be considering ways to show appreciation to frontline workers for their service during the pandemic.

A new bank holiday could take place in November or around Christmastime, RTE News reports. The day would also be designated to remember those who died from Covid-19.

This would bring the total number of bank holidays in Ireland to 10.

Another measure is expected to be an increase in the national minimum wage in Budget 2022. The increase is expected to raise the rate from €10.20 to €10.50.
