THE new Primary Care Centre in Donegal Town is expected to open in December.

John Hayes, the HSE’s Chief Officer for CHO1, confirmed the news at a meeting of the Regional Health Forum west.

The new building at Drumlonagher, beside the council offices, will provide state of the art facilities to accommodate a range of primary care services under one roof.

Work on the multi-million euro building is almost complete.

Mr Hayes, in response to a query from Councillor Tom Conaghan, told the meeting that the proposed date for the opening was December 15, 2021.

“However, this is dependent on both the furniture being available and the IT equipment being fitted on time,” he said. “In the event of a change to the proposed opening date, an update will be provided.”

The services which will be provided at Donegal Town Primary Care Centre: Enhanced Community Care Services including Clinical Nursing, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Dietetics, Podiatry, Adult Social Work, Speech & Language Therapy, Orthotics, Psychology, Dental and Medical Officers; Children’s Disability Network Teams (CDNTs); Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS); Ambulance Service; TUSLA (Child and Family Agency); GP Services.
