The Boards of Buncrana and Foyle Credit Unions are pleased to announce that the two credit unions have now successfully merged and are now operating from four offices in Inishowen: Buncrana, Moville, Carndonagh and Muff.

The combined credit union is now operating under the new name of ‘Inishowen Credit Union’, to reflect the shared geographic common bond. This merger is a welcome development for both credit unions and will now focus on providing enhanced member services in the local community.

The credit union offices will remain open and fully operational, with increased opening hours in our Moville office, and savings remain protected by the Government’s Deposit Guarantee Scheme of up to €100,000 per depositor. The decision was taken for the two credit unions to come together to grow and lead the way in the provision of loans, savings and budgeting services and accessible, friendly financial services in the local area of Inishowen.

Members will be able to use any of the four credit union offices in Inishowen during the below opening hours. Don’t forget, our online banking allows 24/7 access to your account.

Speaking about the merger Maeve Douglas, CEO of Inishowen Credit Union said: “Both Buncrana and Foyle Credit Unions recognise and appreciate the loyalty and support of our members. For this we would like to thank our members and assure them that together, and with their continued loyalty, we will continue to make a positive difference.

“The merging of Buncrana and Foyle Credit Unions will strengthen the service offering in the Inishowen area. We are taking decisions now which will result in enhanced products and services to our members, and we are very much looking forward to the continued role that we will play in the local community.

“As with every decision taken by the Boards of Directors in both credit unions, we were guided by the best interests of our members at all times. If any member has any queries in relation to this, we would encourage them to call into their local branch and speak with a member of staff who will be happy to assist them.”

Members are welcome to contact any of our four credit union offices in Inishowen, if they require any further information.
