The Irish Embassy has confirmed it is to enter talks to visit India to hep speed up the trial of a man accused of murdering Buncrana woman Danielle McLaughlin.
The 27 year old was found dead in Canacona on March 14th, 2017.
A local man Vikat Bhagat, 23, has pleaded not guilty ot the murder of the popular Donegal woman.
His trial already started in 2018 but it has stalled and restarted time and time again due to Covid and other reasons.
Danielle’s mother Andrea Brannigan said the trial needed to restart as soon as possible.
She told the Star “We need this trial to resume properly and reach a conclusion.
“My family needs this case to be resolved so that me and the rest of my girls can grieve properly and try to come to terms with our loss.”
The Buncrana mother revealed that the Irish Embassy is talking with UK officials to arrange a joint visit to Goa to speed up the trial.
Danielle was traveling on a British passport but was a dual British/Irish citizen.
