Donegal County Council has released a video to mark World Mental Health Day.
The goal of World Mental Health Day is to raise awareness of mental health issues around the world and to mobilise efforts in support of mental health.
The video is of a recent event by Donegal County Council’s Trail Gazers Project in association with Mental Health Services (HSE) and Mental health Ireland.
“The rationale for hosting Donegal County Council’s Trail Gazers event on the 18th September (Spin and Chat on Inch) is that one of the key promotional messages of Trail Gazers is the health benefits of walking and cycling,” a council spokesperson said.
“Physical activity is important for people of all ages and abilities. Being active helps to prevent many diseases and in addition physical activity improves energy levels, reduces stress levels and helps to maintain a healthy body weight. Nature-based recreation, such as walking and cycling, has the strong potential to improve mental health.”
