Donegal Gardai have issued a warning after a spate of car thefts locally.
A spokesperson said “We have received a couple of reports of thefts from cars recently. The cars concerned were parked in public places at the time of the incidents.”
Gardai have issued advice to people on what to do and not to do to keep their valuables safe.
They include:
* Please do not leave anything of high value in your car such as cash, jewellery or electronics.
* Keep all handbags etc. out of cars. They may not be safe while hidden under the seat or under a coat!
* Ensure that your car is locked at all times.
The Garda spokesperson said that some people have started their Christmas shopping already.
“If you intend to buy something expensive then please leave that purchase until you are ready to go home so you do not have to leave it unattended whilst you finish your shopping.
If you ever see anyone attempting to open cars or looking into cars and you feel that their behaviour is odd while you are out and about, please give Gardaí a ring immediately,” added the spoksperson.
