Covid-19: 2,148 new cases, 63 further deaths confirmed nationally

ANOTHER 2,148 new cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed by Irish health officials today.

The National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET) has confirmed a further 63 deaths notified in the past week, bringing to 5,369 the total number of Covid-19 related deaths in Ireland.

The Department of Health says that there are now 464 Covid-19 patients in hospitals.

Of those, 86 people are receiving treatment in intensive care settings.

There are 15 Covid-19 patients at Letterkenny University Hospital – down from 17 the previous day. As of 8pm last night, there are four confirmed Covid-19 patients in ICU at the hospital.

Daily county-by-county figures are no longer released by NPHET. The latest data shows that Donegal’s incidence of infection has dropped to eighth highest in the country.

The 14-day incidence rate in Donegal stood at 599.3 per 100,000 on 18th October. The national average was 493.0 per 100,000. A total of 954 cases of Covid-19 have been detected in Donegal in the two weeks up to Thursday.
