The South Donegal region recorded the highest number of new Covid-19 cases this past fortnight.

New figures from the Department of Health show cases have risen in four of Donegal’s seven local electoral areas.

For the second week running, no areas of the county are among the 10 highest rates nationally. Waterford recorded Ireland’s highest 14-day incidence rate this week.

In Donegal, cases have increased in North and South Inishowen (Buncrana/ Carndanagh LEAs), South Donegal and Glenties.

Cases are down in Letterkenny, Lifford-Stranorlar and Milford.

The 14-day incidence rate in the south Donegal are is now 838 per 100,000, with 222 new cases confirmed in the past two weeks.

South Inishowen was the only area of the county to have below-average case numbers. With 69 new cases in the past fortnight, the incidence rate there is 308.5 per 100,000.
