New rules on nightclubs and late night venues come into force today.
Anyone going out tonight will need to have an online ticket at least an hour in advance, for the purpose of contact tracing.
Venues in Donegal have already opened online booking systems in line with the regulations.
Customers need a valid Covid-19 Digital Certificate, with photo identification, to enter live entertainment and nightclub venues. When inside, queues must be “managed, orderly and socially distant” and there must be no congregating at bars.
Compliance officers from the Health and Safety Authority (HSA) and the Health Service Executive (HSE) will monitor nightclubs to ensure that they follow new regulations.
Premises risk fines of up to €2,500 for a first offence, and €5,000 or to imprisonment if a cessation order is granted.
